3Delight 6.0 is out

Yep, that’s right. A new 3Delight just came freshly out of DNASoft’s oven of goodness. Photon mapping, point cloud baking & shadeops, toon outlines and a raytrace hider are among the most notable features for the crowd. However, 3Delight 6.0 comes with “exclusive” AOVs. AOVs tagged as such don’t get matted by µ-polygons who write to other displays. This and some nice extensions to the OpenEXR display driver make this release very interesting for VFX shops that rebuild lots of their shader math in compositing.

There’s also a Gentoo ebuild here for this — in case you run the best GNU/Linux distro currently out there too and wondered.

RSP @ S.U.K. Design Hamburg

After arriving at Hamburg main station, my friend Sascha, who will host us for the time being, picked us up. We just arrived in his not yet finished loft. Luke instantly did some testing of German preczision design furniture (verdict: “awzome!”). As you can see, there are ways gto get luggage up to the 6th floor in a dignified way.

Back in Germany

We made it just in time to catch an early high speed train (Inter City Express) to Hamburg. Luke was new to the concept of drinking beer on a fast moving vehicle, but he grasped the advances instantaneously!
