Casshern

Moritz | Film | Saturday, February 21st, 2004

This Japanese-Korean co-produced feature film’s trailer features some of the most beatiful imagery I’ve seen for a long time. Perfect Lighting, Compostion, Timing and Editing. What more can you ask for (except for a good story, fine actors and a brilliant director, of course. But trailers don’t tell you much in that regard…)

The movie is an adaptation of a 1970 live action super hero TV programme. It later was reborn as a 35 episode anime TV series called “Shinzo Ningen Cassan” (“Casshan: Robot Hunter”) in 1973 and finally incarnated again as a four episode direct-to-video anime series in 1993 under the same name. With rumors about non-anime remakes of “Akira” and “Evangelion”, this shouldn’t come by surprise. Looks as if we should see more anime turn into life action in the near future.
